Why Choose a Christian School?

As a parent, you may spend much time considering your child’s education.

Are they being prepared for success as adults? Are they developing resiliency and courage and learning to build healthy relationships? Are they exposed to healthy values or, in contrast, corrupting influences or inappropriate curricula? Are they learning to integrate their faith with what they are learning?

So, why Christian schools?

A Spiritual Foundation. Christian schools provide a strong foundation by incorporating prayer and Bible teaching into daily routines. As the ultimate source of truth, the Bible guides every aspect of the school's culture. This nurturing environment enriches a child’s faith, providing tools and resources to foster spiritual growth and comforts parents in their choice of a Christian school.

Faith-based Curriculum. Christian schools use a faith-based curriculum that aligns academic teaching with the Bible. This approach provides parents with a sense of security, knowing their children are learning from a biblical perspective. Challenges to learn about and grow in the Christian faith are a daily part of life at a Christian school, reinforcing the values parents instill at home.

Respect for the God-given Role of Parents. Parents have the God-given right and responsibility to teach their children. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”  When children attend a Christian school, the teachers use their educational expertise in a surrogate role to assist parents in fulfilling their God-given mandate.

Challenging Academics. Christian schools offer challenging academics and can hold students accountable to a higher educational standard. Private schools are generally more focused on preparing students for life after high school, including readiness to enter college. Private school students tend to score better on college entry tests than their public school counterparts as noted in data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Additionally, private schools are typically smaller and can provide more attention to each student.

Biblical Character Development is Taught and Valued. Christian education encourages strong character development and goes deeper than that, focusing on why we have morals. Students learn to love their neighbor not just because it is right and good, but because the Bible teaches that each human has dignity and should be respected as created by God. Christian character development includes teaching students personal integrity and accountability and helping them understand how their decisions impact others and their relationship with God.

There are many reasons to choose a Christian school. We’re glad you have done that by choosing Grace Academy!  We love educating your students and knowing they are being educated for life and impacted for eternity.
