I pose this question to two groups of people. I’ll keep it simple.
Group 1: What are you waiting for? The Messiah is come. The God of the universe came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ and died so sinners like you and me might be saved. The alternative is eternal death and separation from God (Matthew 25:31-46). We currently pause to celebrate this in the birth of Jesus (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7; 1 John 4:14). This happened; it is in the history books. According to Scripture, you need now only confess that you are a sinner and accept the gift of salvation. Why put it off? Please ask our teachers, staff, or administration if you have questions. Don’t wait any longer.
Group 2: What are you waiting for? Believers, you are already an adopted child of God through Jesus Christ; don't you want to “go tell it on the mountain?” Or better yet, tell your neighbor, relative, or Wal-Mart clerk about it. A bunch of shepherds heard the news and spread the word; why don't you? The Messiah that came for the shepherds also came for you (Luke 2:8-20). We so often are content with our salvation that we do not think about the destination of those around us. If we responded more like the Wisemen, then I think we would.
And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. -Matthew 2:11a
I implore you to fall down and worship Him, asking for strength and opportunity to share the Gospel with all who need to hear. Pray for them and be ready for some challenging conversations; always remember that the Holy Spirit indwells you (John 14:12-14).
Merry Christmas! I pray that each one has a safe and joyous vacation.
