Each year, Grace Academy hosts a fundraiser that we call the Heritage Celebration. The night is important because it is our means of raising extra funds that we need to have an excellent school. Beyond raising funds, could the night have a greater purpose?
In fact, it does. The Heritage Celebration displays our mission as well as our success at delivering it. We express our purpose most succinctly with our motto, “Educating for Life; Impacting for Eternity.” The program features our students so that guests can see both parts of the motto modeled. Students demonstrate their classroom knowledge and skills through performances such as recitations and songs. In other parts of the program we show the spiritual side. Is there a better way than to have an alumnus who graduated years ago testify to the school’s impact? That is what we do and the spiritual formation that took place at Grace Academy is always evident.
Thus, rather than merely being an extra program unrelated to our mission, the Heritage Celebration helps to communicate it. In fact, many people who would never come on our campus are invited to the celebration, so it is one of our best community outreaches. Of course, the goal of the night is to raise funds and demonstrating our vision gives people a motivation to donate. Not everyone comes to give and that is okay because they will see why the school is flourishing, too.
I have heard many people say that this is their favorite program of the year. Everyone is invited, so take this as my invitation for you to attend to this year’s Celebration, on November 1, at 7 p.m. However, please call the office to let us know that you are coming, how many guests you are bringing, and if you will make use of our free childcare. As a bonus, tours of the new building will be available beginning at 6:15 p.m.
