Communication will always require interaction, patience, asking questions, and listening on both sides.
At Grace Academy, we desire to partner with parents because we understand that God gives parents the right and responsibility to raise their children. We are here to assist parents in fulfilling that role. We desire to facilitate clear communication between the school and parents.
Teachers welcome input and questions from parents. Teachers regularly check their email and voicemail. We also communicate with parents via the Eagle Flyer, Thursday Folders (grades K-6), and weekly progress reports sent to your email for grades 4-12, as well as Facts/RenWeb for information on homework and grades. These regular forms of correspondence are established to provide parents with the necessary information and updates.
Perfect communication can be achieved if both parties express themselves perfectly; however, because humans are involved, miscommunication can still occur. It is usually simply an unintentional error or misinterpretation of tone. These issues can be resolved quickly with a few clarifying questions. Communication will always require interaction, patience, asking questions, and listening on both sides. While resolving conflict can be uncomfortable, the effort is rewarded by deeper relationships and by bringing honor to the Lord.
We value our parents and the students we teach and shepherd every day. We desire quality relationships and strive to achieve that goal. In Ephesians 4:1-2, Paul encourages us to live a life worthy of our calling and to be completely humble, gentle, patient, and bear with one another in love.
Thank you for your commitment to ensuring clear and healthy communication. Here are a few tips for families:
* Always start by speaking with those directly involved in the situation, rather than discussing it with others not directly related. Usually, this means contacting the student’s teacher first.
* Email is the best way to start, regardless of your preferred type of communication. You can always request a phone call or a personal conference via email.
* Give teachers and staff at least 24-48 hours to respond to emails and phone calls. Follow up with a quick reminder after that, if necessary.
* If you have attempted to communicate with the parties involved and require further assistance, please contact one of the administrators. We are here to help!
* If you have an emergency message, you can call the office. They are great at getting messages out to the classrooms quickly.
