Grandparents Day

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. Proverbs 17:6

We had a wonderful time celebrating Grandparents' Day! Grandparents play a special role in our children’s lives, which was evident as we watched our students’ faces light up as they entered the stage to sing a song or recite a poem during the program.

Why are grandparents, or a special older friend or family member, important to our children? There are many reasons. Grandparents share a unique bond with their grandchildren, offering unconditional love and support. They possess life experiences and wisdom that parents may not have. Grandparents take great pride in passing down family memories, traditions, and values. They are also ready to step in during emergencies and serve as a supportive backup when parents aren't available. When a grandchild veers away from the family values you hold dear, grandparents can lovingly offer support through prayers and share the hope of the Gospel in a conciliatory manner.

For some of you, your grandparents may not be a regular part of your family life, whether due to distance or other reasons. I encourage you to find someone to fill that role in your child’s life. This could be an aunt, a family friend from church, or a neighbor. Look for someone who can help guide your child in their faith and be present during difficult times.

Thank you to everyone who brought family members to share in Grandparents' Day. We also appreciate those who sent their children to school even without a grandparent present! Many grandparents who came “adopted” a student, so everyone was included. We had a great day and are grateful for all the grandparents, near and far.
